Every school. Every org. Every chapter.

The map nobody has drawn: universities, national organizations, and alumni associations, cross-linked so a stranger can find their people in under a minute.

The schools.

Published counts of federally designated HBCUs range from 101 to 107, depending on the source and the year. 102 are in this index today.

102 schools in the directory

The bodies that hold it together.

Funds, conferences, advocacy associations and the capital layer. Small in number, enormous in reach.

The Divine Nine

Nine organizations founded between 1906 and 1963, five of them at Howard. They are the oldest continuously operating network this community has, and any index that leaves them out is not describing the same world.

Reference2

29 sites, every one fetched on 2026-09-07 and checked against its own page before it was listed. None of them is affiliated with the Collective, and nothing here was copied from them.

Chapters, city by city.

The hardest of the three to build, and the one with the most value in it. Most chapters exist only as a Facebook group and a treasurer's spreadsheet.

Nothing listed yet

There is no public, machine readable index of HBCU alumni chapters anywhere. Rather than fill this page with plausible looking chapters and let someone drive across a city to a meeting that does not exist, it stays empty until real ones are submitted.

Submit a chapter

Anything missing, and most of it is.

Schools, organizations, chapters and businesses. Free, and it stays free.

Businesses and organizations have a form. List a business or organization, free, and it goes through categorization and geocoding before a person reads it. It does not appear in the directory until that person adds it, because this directory is built from records somebody put there by hand.

Schools, alumni chapters and national organizations do not have one yet, and until they do the honest answer for those three is the one that was here before: a form that silently discards what you type is worse than no form at all. Join the Collective and you will be able to submit those the moment it opens.
